You have red hair, did you write Jessie about yourself?

The short answer is, no.

The long answer is that there is a part of me in each one of my characters. I almost feel like if you blended them all together, you would get me. I very much share Devin's snarky, no bullshit side. I can relate to some of Jessie's disappointments and insecurities. I have the flyaway ambition of Silas while also realizing it might be time to reel it in. Corey has the calming influence that I feel balances my fiery side. And Salinger, well, he has been handed quite a bit of shit in his life and has persevered and come out on the other side, and I think we can all relate to that in our own way. So, am I Jessie? I don't think so, not anymore than I am Devin or Salinger, but I can tell you I have sprinkled parts of myself all over those pages because it's the only way I know how to bring the characters to life.
